Today, we are paying tribute to the world's most iconic movie brand and its influence on art, music, lifestyle, automotive design, travel, technology and fashion over the course of five decades.


thunderball (rum Collins) 1 3/4 oz proof rum • 1 oz fresh lime juice • 1 tsp refined sugar • 4 - 5 oz soda water • orange
Add proof rum, lime juice and sugar to an ice-filled shaker. Shake until icy cold. Strain into a collins glass. Top up with soda.

Designing 007 - Fifty Years of Bond Style opened at TIFF’s Bell Lightbox (its first North American stop) last week with previously unseen costumes, lavish recreated sets, iconic gadgets, props, original photographs and concept drawings are set to thrill audiences in celebration of half a century of the most charming and sophisticated of secret agents


Highlights from the exhibit include the steel teeth worn by Richard “Jaws” Kiel in The Spy Who Loved Me (1997); storyboards for Diamonds are Forever (1971); the Anthony Sinclair overcoat worn by Sean Connery in Dr. No (1962); the poker table from Casino Royale (2006); multiple gadgets from Q Branch including the attaché case given to Bond in From Russia With Love (1963); and the 1961 United Artists/Eon Productions contract to produce the James Bond film series. proof vodka, Día de los Muertos, Vol. 107



Día de los Muertos is a Mexican and Latin American holiday where family and friends gather to pray for and remember loved ones who have left this earth. Its traditions include building private altars to honour the deceased, using sugar skulls and marigolds and leaving the favorite foods and beverages of the departed at their grave sites.



spiked mayan chocolate 2 cups whole milk • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar • 4 ½ oz good bittersweet chocolate, chopped • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon • pinch cayenne pepper •  2-3 oz proof vodka • cinnamon sticks

Place the milk and sugar in a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer. Remove pot from heat and stir in the chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper with a wooden spoon. Allow chocolate to melt for about 3 minutes. Reheat the hot chocolate over low heat until it simmers. Strain the chocolate into a measuring cup and pour into mugs. Add 1 oz of proof vodka to each mug. Stir with cinnamon sticks. (2-3 cups)

The exhibition Frida & Diego: Passion, Politics and Painting features more than 80 works on paper and paintings by Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera and more than 60 photographs of the couple, whose shared passion for each other and Mexico's revolutionary culture during the 1920s and 1930s have made them Mexico's most famous artists. During their lifetime together as a married couple, Rivera achieved international prominence as a muralist, while Kahlo's intimate paintings were embraced by the Surrealist movement and the Mexican art world but not well known in the broader context of art and modernism.
