The Sopranos Wine is brought to you by the New York-based Vesuvio Import Company. Named after the famed fictional restaurant depicted in the series, it was created to develop and import this brand of fine Italian wine. Inspired by the landmark HBO series that set a new standard in television, we launched The Sopranos Wines in July 2008. The Sopranos® showed us how important the ideas of family and togetherness can be, and the role that wine plays while we’re enjoying time with the people we care about most. Now, you can bring some of that experience to your next family meal. Our label features a range of selections for every type of wine enthusiast. For those seeking an affordable quality vintage for every day, to the more discriminating devotee on the lookout for a solid, mid-tiered choice, to the passionate aficionado searching for a good value on a higher-end varietal. So set the table, pair a bottle with your favorite food, and enjoy the company of your closest friends and family. (http://www.bevig.com/)

The reviews are already coming in and they are pretty good, eh?

Even though the series ended almost 4 years ago, the merchandise is still going strong. Pickup some great Sopranos gear at the HBO shop (http://store.hbo.com)

In honour of Tony and these great wines, we are hosting an Italian dinner party. Our talented culinary friend has created this delicious red sauce, made with proof whisky, just for us to enjoy.

proof pasta paisano sauce
¼ cup olive oil
½ cup chopped onions
3 garlic cloves, chopped
¼ cup red or yellow peppers, chopped
½ cup chopped green olives
1 tbsp dried oregano flakes
1 tsp red crushed chili peppers
½ c. proof whisky
1 bottle (600mL) strained tomatoes
1 tsp salt
In a medium sauce pan pour 1/4 cup of olive oil, heat at medium high. Add 1/2 cup of chopped onions, 3 chopped garlic cloves, 1/4 cup of chopped red or yellow peppers, 1/2 cup chopped green olives and a tablespoon of dried oregano flakes. Stir and cook at medium high for 5 minutes. Sprinkle a teaspoon of Red Crushed Chili peppers. Reduce heat to medium for 3 minutes. Add 1/2 cup-125 ml of proof whisky and cook at medium low for another 3 minutes. Add 1 bottle, approx 600 ml of strained tomato's (every grocery store has these in the sauce section in bottles, used for many sauce bases) Add 1 teaspoon of salt. Cook at medium high for 10 minutes then reduce to low for about 20 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent the sauce from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Relax and add 1 1/2 ounces of proof whisky to a tumbler glass with a splash of Italian bitters and a splash of lime – Italian Punch! Put on your white Italian muscle shirt and wait for the proof to come in on the best Pasta sauce...it will all be in the taste when the sauce is ready. Cook your favourite pasta* and enjoy! Prep time - 5 minutes. Total cooking time 35 to 40 minutes, the longer the better. Arrivederci, David Bevilacqua
